For many reasons like durability, low-cost and safety, treated pine decking is becoming more and more popular. The attempt to make decks long-lasting, economical and safer lead to the evolution of the science behind treated pine. Many people might prefer redwood or cedar for their deck but using treated pine you can have the same benefits or even more, and it is a lot cheaper than the other options.
Noted for its exceptional weatherability, it is one of few woods that contain natural oils that retard decay and repel insects and fungus. Its highly uniform cell structure gives it low shrinking and swelling characteristics, great workability and outstanding dimensional stability for years of service. A cedar deck designed and built by us gives you peace of mind and will enhance your life style in your back yard. Each deck is designed around specific customer requirements and needs implementing the style of house and the beauty of the landscape.
If near-zero maintenance is your goal, buy composite decking. Most is made from recycled plastic and wood chips or sawdust. It’s more expensive than cedar for a wood deck, but once it’s down, it won’t rot, splinter or twist. The color change is even (though in shady, damp areas it can turn dark, like the example in the photo). You can even stain most types after four to six months. Since composite deck material is defect free, you can use every inch. Maintenance involves spraying it off with a hose.
